Canadian firm Amanah Tech announced today at GITEX that it has finalized its purchase of Saudi Arabia-based VIP Hosting, the eighth-largest web-hosting firm in the Kingdom; there are more than 90 such companies in total. The deal, worth about $600,000, will allow Amanah to have a technical team based in the region to work with the few thousand clients the Canadian web-hosting firm currently has, according to CEO Nezar Freeny. Amanah, which was founded by Sudanese national Freeny in 2001 out of his flat in Saskatchewan, Canada, has grown by leaps and bounds. Freeny says he founded the company with the Middle East in mind. “The idea was to offer Arabian businesses web hosting services in their language from North America,” he says. “Companies really love that, to be able to work within their language.” The 10-person company that began with one customer now has a few thousand and with the acquisition of VIP Hosting, the company will have a local entry point.“ Most of our clients – about 90% actually – are based in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, so it really makes good sense,” adds Freeny. The company’s headquarters in Canada have also grown. The office in Saskatchewan moved to Toronto this past June. Amanah’s stand is with a large Canadian contingent that participates each year.
