What is a cross-connect

A direct physical cable to another network.

A cross-connect is a physical cable run between your rack and another network or carrier at 151 Front Street West. Unlike internet-routed connectivity, a cross-connect is a dedicated private circuit traffic between you and the connected party travels over that cable alone, not shared infrastructure.

Both fibre and copper cross-connects are available. The right cable type depends on your connection requirements and the far-end network’s specifications. Amanah’s team advises on the appropriate option for your specific connection.

Cross-connects are co-terminus with your primary Amanah colocation service. Available to all rack sizes per-U, private rack, cage, and suite clients.
What is a cross-connect
A cable run between your rack and another rack within Amanah’s TOR2 suite. Used to connect directly to another Amanah client, a dedicated server, or another piece of your own infrastructure in the same suite. Traffic travels over the dedicated cable, not shared network infrastructure.
MMR cross-connect
A cable run from your rack to MMR1 or MMR2 (the Meet-Me-Rooms at 151 Front Street West). From the MMR, you connect to any of 400+ carriers, ISPs, content networks, and cloud providers in the building. Required for carrier peering, cloud on-ramps, and direct access to networks with a presence at 151 Front.

Availability confirmed

The team confirms the target network or rack is reachable from your position in TOR2 and provides an LOA (Letter of Authorisation) if required by the far-end network.

Cable installed

The cable is run and terminated by Amanah’s team. Most cross-connects are completed within 1 to 3 business days after ordering.

Billing begins

Recurring billing starts from the date of installation. Co-terminus with your primary colocation service.

LOA Letter of Authorisation
Some networks require an LOA before Amanah can complete a cross-connect to them. An LOA is a document from the far-end network authorising the connection. The Amanah team will advise you if one is needed and assist with the coordination.

Most cross-connects are completed within 1 to 3 business days after the order is confirmed. Timing can vary depending on the far-end network’s availability and LOA requirements.
